My first favorite white wine was the dry Riesling from Chateau Saint Michelle – a tart slightly effervescent Washington wine in the classic Riesling bottle. After I moved across the country, the wine was no longer easily accessible, and I moved on to drinking white wines I knew would be dry (or at least relatively so). And because I don’t really know anything about Riesling, it didn’t seem like it was worth the risk.

I have liked wine for a while, but the first wine that made me want to buy a case of it was a pinot noir from Omero. I found it in a wine store in Seattle, and brought it along with a few other bottles back to DC. When we were back in the Pacific Northwest last summer, we got a case of Oregon pinots, and made sure to have a good amount of Omero pinots in the bunch.

Mostly pinot noirs, not surprisingly, but a few other wines sprinkled in among them, one of them the 2013 pinot gris from Johan. After drinking a bunch of reds (do seem to gravitate towards those in the colder months) I decided it was
